Tuesday, April 3, 2018To the Family of Dr. Box, I would like to send my condolences, having worked in Biophysics for 10 of my many years there. I knew both Harold and his wife June, who also gave so much to Roswell as a volunteer. They were wonderful, humble and kind people. My sympathy and prayers to you, we will remember them always. Tuesday, April 3, 2018Harold was a kindly person who I got to know visiting the Roswell Park Biophysics lab he headed and over saw the machine shop resources. He always welcomed you with a smile when passing and remembered your name. He will be greatly missed.

Sunday, April 1, 2018My condolences to the Box family, I pray God will ease your pain at this difficult time. Harold was an extraordinary man, a brilliant scientist, a caring and attentive mentor, and a genuine sincere gentleman. I owe my career in academia to Harold. He took me in as a graduate student in 1989, and patiently worked with me on direct effects of radiation damage to DNA oligomers. It was a daunting project, but he always had faith and vision to see the value of the work, even when I didn’t. He believed in me, coached me, trained me, guided me to completion of my doctorate. Fast forward 20 years, and I am a Dept. Head of Science. So much of how I lead my Department I learned from him. He was respectful, kind, and driven to excellence. I have never worked with anyone with more integrity, respect , and passion for his work. I am just one of countless students he has worked with over the years. The font of knowledge in EPR/ENDOR spectroscopy and DNA research will forever feel his impact. He has touched many lives in the pursuit of understanding and eradicating cancer. I’m proud to have known and worked for him. Those were the most productive and happiest days of my life. Bless you Harold, you are forever in my heart. Joe and Donna Falcone Tifton, GA
